Additional Landscaping at BIC

9/2/2005: Over the last couple of months, the people from Tilke have been very busy working on upgrades to the already first class facilities at the circuit. Part of these works include additional landscaping and beautification.

Among the places to be given the treatment is the Paddock Area. In order to break up the long open space between the team buildings and the garages, 12 ?¢â‚¬?“Green Islands?¢â‚¬A? have been created. Each island is about 36sqm in size and contain four mature palm trees. The islands also include a range of flowering shrubs and plants. Seating is being setup around these islands from where people can watch the activities in the paddock.

The space at the bottom of the steps at each team building has also been upgraded to include a garden. They now have a 3 meter grass area where team members can sit and relax and enjoy the sun, when they get a chance.

More than 2500 flowering shrubs have been put planted in the vending area at the main grandstand. These, along with 800 other ground cover plants, are contained in a five meter wide strip running along the inside of the car park fence.

The front of The Heritage Tent has been given a new 900sqm grass oasis complete with nine mature palm trees. This oasis includes more that 200 shrubs and other plants.

In addition to all of this, new grass strips have been put in on the track at turns 1,2,and 3.
