The Bahrain International Circuit team moves to Kuwait, the second leg in its Pan Arab Road show campaign promoting the Gulf Air Bahrain GP 2005

1/2/2005: After the success of the first road show in Beirut during the month of January 2005, a dedicated team from the Bahrain International Circuit, which recently won the prestigious award for the best organized Grand Prix of the 2004 season, moved to Kuwait, the second leg in its Road show campaign, which is taking place this time in Marina mall from 1 till 6 February. The road show aims to promote the Formula one race in Bahrain (3rd round of the FIA Formula One World Championship 2005), which will take place on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of April 2005. During the road show, the audience will be introduced to Formula One racing, and they will live a virtual Formula one driving experience through an F1 driving simulator, which promises to bring to life most aspects of formula one driving with all of its thrill and excitement. They will also be able to buy race tickets, in addition to specialized packages prepared by Gulf Air, which include flight and race tickets, transportation, in addition to accommodation.

Kuwait is of paramount importance to the Gulf Air Bahrain GP, since it is only a driving distance away from Bahrain. This allows racing fans to drive their cars to Sakhir circuit, watch the race, and return back home on the same day! This will simplify their race attendance program and inject it with more realism and enthusiasm. At the Bahrain International circuit stand in Marina Mall, racing fans will have at their disposal a wide range of tickets spanning all prices that suit all budgets. The road show takes place during ?¢â‚¬?“Hala Febrayer?¢â‚¬A? shopping festival in Kuwait, a fact that will assure meeting the largest number of people possible visiting Kuwait during that period. Kuwait is the second stage in the road show campaign, which will move afterwards to Dubai and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

After the Gulf Air Bahrain GP 2004, Bahrain International Circuit embarked on an ambitious and highly intensified work program to realize its slogan as the home of motor sport in the Middle East. Just a few months ago, the Circuit hosted two international races, which are the F3 SuperPrix race and the GT race. That is in addition to a wide variety of races like drag racing, MECAR, and Mini Cooper challenge. Also, the BMW Williams F1 team recently launched its team livery at the Bahrain International Circuit. On the other hand, BMW recently opened a Performance Center in Bahrain International Circuit, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East and the second in the world. The center is one of the most modern of its kind in the world and for the very first time, the center unites the programs of Formula BMW Racing center and BMW Driver Training under one roof. The fleet of cars at the center’s disposal comprises, among others, BMW M3 and M5 vehicles, in addition to Formula BMW FB2 single seater race cars. These cars provide the basis for kick starting one’s professional career in motor racing, with strong hopes to deliver the first Arabic driver to the world of Formula One racing. Also, the Bahrain International Circuit will witness the opening of an offroad school on its premises, which is one of the best in the world, and has 20 Land Rover cars at its disposal.

However, the most important thing about the Circuit activities lies in its concentration on teaching the safe aspects of driving. Also the Circuit facilities play a great role in letting young guys let out their desire for speed on a specialized track, instead of doing so on roads and endangering their life and the life of others.

With regards to the latest in track news, the fourth corner has been widened and part of the gravel filled run off areas have been asphalted to enable cars to return to the track after going off momentarily. In keeping with the Oasis environment, new palm trees are being planted throughout the Formula One Paddock and in the spectator areas behind the Main Grandstand to create a relaxing environment for the Formula One fans in addition to teams, drivers, engineers, technicians and guests.

With respect to the second road show the Bahrain International Circuit has started in Kuwait, Sheikh Salman Bin Essa Al Khalifa, Governmental and Public Relations Director of the circuit, commented: “Now, The Bahrain International Circuit is truly global. The races and events it hosts are a testament of the true global nature of the circuit, while the awards we collected are a reminder for everyone of the level of perfection we are operating at. Today we have an ambitious aim, to promote the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2005, so that there is not a single Arab citizen in the Middle East region who is not aware of Formula One racing, and the upcoming race in Bahrain. In that regard we started a variety of promotional campaigns, the most important of which is the very effective and ambitious Pan Arab Road show campaign spanning across Lebanon, Kuwait, Dubai, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The campaign will focus on the experience and feeling of driving an F1 car in virtual reality, by providing a Formula One driving simulator near the Bahrain International Circuit stand for Kuwaiti people to try. This will enlighten Kuwaiti people about what awaits them at the forthcoming F1 race in Bahrain. If they like the idea, all they have to do is buy a ticket from the circuit stand, get behind the wheel of their car and drive to Bahrain to watch the race on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of April. On the other hand, Bahrain International Circuit will work hand in hand with appointed travel agents around the world to support all F1 visitors in finding accommodation and transportation. Moreover Bahrain International Circuit extends its invitation to the corporate sector, and we will make sure, as we did in our inaugural F1 race, to satisfy the different requirements of Motor-sports fans by offering tickets spanning across a wide price spectrum ranging between $100- $3500.?¢”
